FAQ & Technical Information
Cable is a technical product — these are the questions that matter most before you order, sourced from the Pitacs Cable Guide 2026/2027 and our terms of delivery.
Is this cable being discontinued, like the radiators on the Ultraheat clearance page?+
No. This is excess stock of current Pitacs Cable lines — surplus we're clearing at a lower price, not stock being withdrawn. The same cable will normally still be available at full price once this batch sells out.
Does the price include VAT?+
No — every price shown is the nett price, excluding VAT. VAT is added at checkout or on your invoice. Minimum order value for this clearance list is £1,500 ex VAT, or add these items to a main cable order.
Is this cable certified and safe to use?+
Yes. Every product listed carries BASEC approval and is manufactured to the British or European standard shown on its product page (for example BS 6004, BS 7211, or BS EN 50525). Pitacs is ISO 9001 (quality) and ISO 14001 (environmental) certified, both independently audited by NQA (UKAS accredited).
What does LSZH mean, and do I need it?+
LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) cable is designed to give off very little smoke and no toxic acid gas if it's ever caught in a fire. It's specified where smoke and fume emission would be a major hazard — for example escape routes, public buildings and some commercial installations. Standard PVC-insulated cable is fine for ordinary domestic wiring. If your job's design or building regulations call for LSZH, use the LSZH product (marked B in the code, e.g. 6181B, 6242B) rather than the equivalent PVC one (marked Y, e.g. 6181Y, 6242Y).
What does SWA mean?+
Steel Wire Armoured — a power cable with a layer of steel wire under the outer sheath for mechanical protection. It's used wherever a cable risks being damaged, including underground runs and outdoor installations, and is suitable for direct burial as well as clipping, trays and free air.
Can I buy less than the drum length shown, or get a custom cut length?+
No — this clearance list is fixed drum stock. Each item is sold as the complete drum length shown (typically 50m, 100m or 200m depending on the product). We can't split a drum or cut a custom length from clearance stock.
Who should install this cable?+
All cable and accessories should only be installed by a qualified, competent electrician, in accordance with BS 7671 (the UK Wiring Regulations). Current-carrying figures shown are quoted at maximum rating (cable clipped direct, reference method C) — the correct de-rating factor for your actual installation method must be applied per BS 7671.
Can I return cable if I ordered the wrong size or too much?+
Electrical cable can only be returned if it's faulty — we can't accept returns of cable ordered in error, so please double-check size, colour and quantity before ordering. If cable arrives damaged or isn't what you ordered, contact us straight away with your delivery/invoice reference and photos of the issue.
How long does delivery take?+
Standard lead times are 48 hours for England & Wales, 3–5 working days for Scotland (AB/DD/FK/HS/IV/KW/PA/PH postcodes), and up to 5 working days for Northern Ireland. Next day and AM delivery are available for a surcharge — ask sales for current charges when you order.
How do I place an order or check current stock?+
Email elec-sales@pitacs.com or call 01908 010345. Stock quantities on this page are a snapshot, not a live guarantee — please confirm availability with sales before finalising an order, especially for larger quantities.

Still not sure? Email elec-sales@pitacs.com or call 01908 010345 — we’d rather answer a question up front than sort out the wrong cable later.
